A beach vacation is the perfect opportunity to get out on the water and enjoy a number of different water activities. Many people find that renting a Waverunner is one of the highlights of their vacation. Many beach destinations have several water sport shops, and you can rent a Waverunner even if you are a novice. If you are not an experienced Waverunner operator, use the following tips to make the most out of your rental:

1. Wear the Right Attire

You don't need a lot of special equipment to operate a Waverunner. Most people just wear a swim suit or a pair of swim trunks. But even if you are a strong swimmer, it is also highly recommended that you wear a life jacket. While you will most likely be completely safe, wearing a life jacket can help save you if you fall off the Waverunner and are injured or if you fall off and get stuck in a strong current that makes it difficult to swim to shore.

2. Know How to Sit

There is a very short learning curve when getting used to sitting on a Waverunner properly. The first step is to place each foot in the foot rests on either side of the seat. Then, before you begin moving, make sure that your back is slightly bent forward. This position will help ensure that your body can absorb the shock of any waves that you may hit while out on the water. In addition, sitting properly on a Waverunner can make it much easier to turn and maneuver the craft, especially when you're riding at high speeds.

3. Make Safety a Priority

Riding a Waverunner is a very fun and safe activity when you take all safety precautions seriously. One of the keys to safely operating a Waverunner is to always be aware of your surroundings. Never make blind turns, as doing so can cause a collision with another person or boat, which could lead to serious injuries or even fatalities. In addition, never allow more riders than the Waverunner is designed for. If you rent a Waverunner built for two people, never let a third rider on board.

4. Dock Slowly

When it is time to return your rented Waverunner, you will need to dock it. As you get closer to the dock, slow down your speed until the Waverunner is only idling. When you have almost approached the dock, turn off the Waverunner and allow the craft to slowly coast up to the dock.

Head to your local water sport shop, such as Whiteknuckle Watersports, to try using a Waverunner.
